Shop built 22'

Postby regularjoe » Mon Feb 13, 2017 10:54 am

I am real excited about this project that is taking shape so I thought I would share it with some fellow boat nuts...
The project began as a very much un-finished hull from a now defunct boat shop. SAKO300WSM has been working his magic and things are coming along nicely!
The specs are:
22' length
6.5' .250' bottom
8.5' beam
center stick steer
Hard top
high rear deck
step tank
Gateway trailer
Raptor 440 engine
Hamilton 212, 3.4T, hydraulic reverse
2 air rides (maybe three, can't decide)
I can't wait to finish this up and get her out on the water this summer!

I just sent a couple of my girlfriends over to his shop to see if he'll be my friend. I think they'll probably fit through his shop door... single file.

Looking at your stringers as they bend up through the bow, we note that each section is welded down in all 4 corners. In contrast, in my fine ride, each of my 6" sections has a single 2" weld in the middle of one side only (staggered from one section to the next). This allows lots of flexibility at the joints between the sections, as well as enforcing rotational flexibility between the sections. The flexibility allows the joints to flex (duh), and then crack and break. Then the single weld cracks and breaks due to contact leverage from each end of the section. Then a chunk of stringer breaks off.

A chunk of stringer breaking off sounds like a bad thing!
