North River Flooring.

Postby River-Wagon » Sun Dec 03, 2017 10:03 am

Good day, I am looking for advise on flooring for my 21' Commander. Currently has the 3/4 " marine board from factory. looking to replace with something lighter, 250 lbs of flooring in it now. Leaning toward 1/8 aluminum checker plate. Which would cut my weight in half. But concerned with the noise increase??? Anyone have experience with this sort of change out?

The .125 aluminum will be very spongy unless you add a bunch of support, which will add weight and cost. Check out thermo-lite composite decking, this is what I'd use...

The 1/8 aluminum is awesome. However, you will have to add quite a few stringers to the existing system to support it. Then, to keep the noise and glare down you'll need to have snap-in carpet made for it. Bringing your weight back up to nearly where it was before and costing 4-6 times as much.

Where can you buy Thermo lite in Canada or North America?
