mountian pie sandwich.

Not sure if many of you do mountian pies while camping but sometimes we survive on them for a couple days in a row when camping. We have the double cast iron pie irons and make all the usual ones like pizza and ham and cheese Ruebens always go over good as well as the sweet pie filling ones. On one of our last camping gigs I did Cuban sandwiches in them and thought everyone would eat the pie irons they were so good. Use French bread unless you can get Cuban bread it is made with lard but not available to us. Roast a pork shoulder roast then slice it thin. Get sweet ham from the deli thin but not chipped and swiss cheese. Layer the pork ham cheese and slices of dill pickles on the bread and put a good amount of mustard on there then use lots of butter on the bread and watch them close while cooking. You will be the cool guy at camp if you make them for the troops.
