I did not see where you are located, there might be something closer if we knew where you are.

Darren Cameron wrote:I got the HX off. It was not too bad. But now that I see the engine connection, I'm not too not excited about putting it back on. There is only a set of straps holding this down and 1 strap sealing it to the engine. There is a rubber round gasket with some sealer around it and then the strap holds it in down in place. Seems kind of hokie for a pressurized system. I guess it works. Ill take it in and see what the radiator shop says but I might just buy a new 1 so I don't have more down time later.

Wow that is funky, where does it attach to the engine?

Oh yea that would help, I'm in Missoula MT :) That circle hole goes into the thermostat crossover and a band holds it down. I took it in to the radiator shop. They acted like they knew what to do with it.

Interesting. I don't know what a thermostat crossover is, never heard of it. If you don't mind could you post a picture of it with the heat exchanger removed? If you don't want to bother that's fine, I just like to learn all I can and this is a real odd duck.

This is a picture of where the HX straps down to the tube holding the thermostat. When I talked to Marine Power they called it the heat exchange crossover. I ordered a new seal for it. Thanks.

Darren, don’t take it to Gull Boats they do not know how to work on jet boats. I took mine in there for them to look it over when I bought it used and they didn’t do jack crap. And charged me to tell me everything looks good and a few weeks later I lost an intake valve do to valves needed to be adjusted. I learned the hard way. The best if your handy you tube and the forms. Or take it over to a shop over in Lewiston,ID. Hope this helps.

A radiator pressure tester is your friend here...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003V ... UTF8&psc=1

We also had coolant in the bilge, but pressurizing the heat exchanger showed it and nearly the whole cooling system good. Turned out it was the radiator cap that was bad. Best $50 I've spent in awhile, I had though I had head bolts leaking.

.
I think you missed this in the OP's First post. A Bad Cap will not cause this: "It appears the heat exchange is mixing raw water into the cooling system."

I used some gasket compound along with a new o ring to seal mine. Have fun.

Do you know specifically which 2 tubes and at which end of the heat exchanger? I ask because if it is a multi-pass and is mounted to slope downward toward the back of the boat, it can appear to be self-draining when in fact it is not.
