LSA Fuel pressure sensor fault

Postby phatboy07 » Wed Jul 15, 2015 7:54 pm

So I have been getting a random code lately on my 6.2 LSA every now and then which seems to be fuel pressure related. The code says fuel pressure sensor fault when I hook up the software to the ECM. It seems to only throw the code when I am up into the higher end of the rpm range (4300-5000) basically when I am giving it some good throttle. At first it would only do it every now and then but seems to be getting worse (happening more often). Any ideas where I could start to look for troubleshooting? Sensor fault mean it is actually the sensor? Or is it a weak fuel pump lines etc?

All of what you mention is a possibility; I'd also look into the fuel filter, when was the last time it was changed?

The online filter before the pump was just recently changed. The water seperator/filter could probably go for a change out.

Is it a marine power or a kem? How many hours are on it?

Engine is a KEM with 138 hours.

If you have the Racor S3232TUL filter it should be changed out every 6 months. The software should depict the fuel pressure when you get the fault codes; anything less than 60 or 65 causes problems.

I will change out the fuel water seperator. I have had a fuel pressure low fault code in but this code only says fuel pressure sensor fault, minor condition. No other info.

Hi Guys. I was having the same problem and could not figure out what the heck it was for two years until 2 weeks ago when the fuel pump quit pumping. Not very handy! I had a replacement pump onboard and made the swap. Then realized it wasn’t the pump, cause still no worky. I had a test light and started messing around with the wires. Power was good but had no ground. Weird! It all looked fine. Turned out the 12” ground wire that ran from the fuel pump to the block was bad. After dicection of the heat shrink fittings at each end. One was broken internally and barely making contact. It’s had to have been like this since it was new. I ran a temp new wire to the ground terminal and haven’t seen that fault since.
