It was very interesting how the shooter quickly learned to lead the hogs by putting the crosshairs on the nose of a running animal.

Lossed art for us big game hunters because of ethics.

That's awesome! Take a look at ShotKam. I have one mounted to my 12 gauge sporting clay gun. It's very cool. You can stop frame it and see the BB's come out of the barrel. It's helped me see my misses and make corrections. It's as useful for a shotgun as a TR1 is for a boat. I think you can use it with a rifle and a bow too, but I've never tried. It's very entertaining watching your shots on a computer screen.

Shooting pigs, or any varmint/predator, from a helicopter is expensive because helicopters cost a ton to operate. I've always thought it would be more fun to be the pilot than the shooter so I set up my airplane so I can remove the rear doors and set the rear seat sideways which should make for a pretty good shooting platform. I probably won't ever get to try it but if I get a call from a rancher with a aerial predator permit I'll be ready.

Whee make sure they dont shoot the struts, prop, or the wheel or ski! This was a problem with people hunting wolves in alaska. My father was wolf hunting in the 60s out of a super cub and a plane flew beneath him and they collided. My father never seen the other plane and had thought the shotgun accidentally went off and broke the ski. He flew back to Anchorage and landed on one ski. Landis got him a new ski because the shot gun hadn't gone off so they thought it was defective. A day or so after the initial broke ski thing we heard about a missing plane and realized what had happened. 3 or 4 people perished in this accident. We had to prove they came from under us and that they were never seen by our airplane! Hunting from the plane is fun and exciting but has its dangers.

Thanks ak. That's quite a spooky story about your dad.

A local instructor is pilot for the feds predictor hunter cub. He'll put me through the ringer before I attempt anything on my own.
