Scope for SOCOM 16

Postby johnsos6 » Thu Dec 07, 2017 7:23 am

Advice needed. I have a Springfield M1A SOCOM 16. This not a long distance rifle / setup since the scope rail is forward of the receiver. I had a EOTech 412 on it which was fun to shoot, but decided to send them back after the lawsuit that was brought against EOTech. This rifle is pretty fun for coyotes, foxes, and jack rabbits, but is big enough for most animals in the lower 48.

I have the Burris AR332 on the ARs (223/556) and have really come to like them. I see Burris makes a 536 scope but wanted to find out if anyone has one and uses on a 7.62 platform. Any suggestions for a midrange scope $300 to $600?

Here is a long eye - relief Burris that would seem to pair well with the Socom 16 (or Scout Squad)

Unless you really like the forward "scout" type mount system; scrap it. Get a Sadlak 3pt mount with a 1-8X scope. Vortex Strike Eagle is probably the best bang for the buck and you can get the mount plus scope for a little under $600. It's how mine is......the true 1X gives BAC (Bindon) ability while still giving enough zoom for reaching out to 800 meters. Iron sights are still useable with the Sadlak mount. Lotta gun for a jack rabbit :)
