Utah's Green River

Postby holdmybeer » Mon Jan 30, 2017 11:11 am

Just curious if anyone on here has drift fished the B and C sections of the Green; and would be willing to share some insight. Thinking that might be on my Spring schedule.

Did you do the green river or have you done it before? Trying to find a good place to go and it looked like that was going to be the best weather within a ten hour drive.

Eagle1 and I have been on the green. We put in at green river state park and went to Moab. Tons of sticks in the river, takes away some of the fun. It took us six hours and we planned two days each way. The original plan was to turn around and go back up but with the amount of junk in the river a one way trip was all we did. So we went to lake Powell and had a great time.

Thinking of a flaming Gorge fishing trip this early June. Then down to Arches Natl park and maybe to Lake Powell. Where on Lake Powell did you launch and stay?

I was just discussing the quality of fishing on the eastern slopes USA vs canada with another seasoned fly guy. So many articles out there about the green river, Colorado, fork, Missouri etc. I fished almost all of them last summer spent 3 months doing so. Still, not even close, do they compare to the size and quality of fish in the bow river. But yet, you Google the best trout rivers in north america I think the bow is about 8. Its number 1, no doubt.

I'm betting he is referring to the Bow River in Alberta, Canada. And it is just the Bow River. I have not fished it but have friends who have and they told me it was outstanding fly fishing.
