Viking, I echo Lovetheedge feeling on this. Life is to short; if you want a new boat and can afford to do it don't look back. I faced a very similar choice a couple years ago. I had a boat I ran for 20 years in the salmon and snake. I ended having a long hard discussion with my wife on what we wanted to do the next 10 or 15 years. I have always wanted a new boat or at least a new boat to me. We looked at our finances, discussed what we expected in life now through (we are both in our late 50's to early 60s) retirement, decided the kids would be fine regardless of what we decided to do and came to the conclusion that life is a one way street therefore enjoy it to the fullest while driving down that path. I now have a new Bentz boat and have no regrets on taking the leap. Kids and grandkids can ride along and enjoy their inheritance. :Drink:

Call Phil at Riddle Marine. There is a used twin on the lot right now or he can help make your dream boat a reality.

There is a whole grip of modern-day whitewater builders out there:

HCM (Heuett Canyon Marine)
Bentz
Bloodsworth
Bean Marine
Riddle
Hudson
Precision Weld

... and once in a while, a used one shows up with all the right stuff.

bondo: indeed, that Riddle sold while I hesitated. Price was definitely right.

Jaker: in video it's pretty obvious that you're relatively free to go wherever you please, without worrying much about the current and where it might shove you.

I wish you all the best on your quest for a new or old boat Mr. Viking. I've enjoyed enough of your videos that I hope you get to keep running for many years.

Buy the boat for what you want to do.

The variable deadrise v bow you have now is a great boat. Probably rides good on the lake and won't beat you when a little chop comes up.

The sled style or bull nose are the best at white water. Your videos totally show that no question. I've ridden in a few boats that could run on a wet sponge but would put a hurt on if some chop came up.

Personally I'm with Riverboater. I have a V bow as I run shallow but don't climb rapids often. It's nicer to not feel like a punching bag if I get caught in weather or chop.

Best of luck. I'll send you some beers to think about it.

Color selector below. Instructions:

1) Use the little circle inside the big circle to select the basic color.
2) Add black using the slider to the left.
3) Report back with the numerical value you see in box #1.

Go down and see Clint or Spike at HCM and they will get fitted for your dream boat! The new HCM boats are great and you will not be sorry...
