The ownership and operation of firearms can be considered a hobby, by some... Not to mention, an occupation: I served as armed patrol in the Navy - presumably to uphold our constitution. Fired all kinds of cool stuff, .45 cal 1911, M14, shotgun, and full auto stuff such as the M60, and Browning .50 cal.

I used to love target shooting with my own pistols, rifles, shotguns... even the really evil looking, so - called "assault" ones that you see in the movies or on video games (I'm not a gamer, but am told of this). Too bad all of my firearms were lost in a tragic boating accident.

Canada, the country settled by “remittance men”.
Riverboater, I read everything you said and still don’t know what Canada is so afraid of concerning hand guns.

He's the plan, Most western Canadians want to be left alone. So the US will buy BC, Yukon, Northwest Territory, Alberta, and anyone else that wants away from the bullshit. We give all of them Second Amendments rights. We will drop ship a bunch Democrats north to eastern Canada to balance out the change. :Drink: :Drink: :Drink: :Drink: :Drink:

Hand guns are fine but it is hard to beat a 12ga. for all round protection. Until recently we really didn't have to much worry about having to pack concealed to protect ourselves. Yes things are changing in the land of peace and may have to be addressed in the future.

Two things, firstly, I never called you a mindless moron but I understand how confusing words can be.
Secondly, I would much rather be a subject of the crown than a paid for lackey of the Russian president.

Let us remember that if we all had the same opinions on controversial subjects, same life circumstances, the same boats, the same income, and ran the same rivers - this place would be boring.

The one thing I really notice and maybe its because I'm a Canadian is that "pro gun" Us citizens are very rigid with their line of thought. There is zero compromise in their train of thought. Its one way or the other. There is no middle ground or meeting somewhere in between. But its also a huge cultural difference. The US is a gun culture. In Canada, if you see a handgun holstered on a hip of some random dude, he is a plain clothed cop. In the US, could be any old Joe, and know one would bat an eye. Americans and Canadian just look at guns differently.

I disagree, It probably looks that way from the outside because the majority who see it from a middle perspective don't want to waste time and energy arguing it on the internet with people who aren't going to budge in either direction. And it doesn't help that neither side can defend their points with out embellishing things or flat out lying about facts or making up stupid statistics. If this country could ever learn how to deal with issues using the truth and actual facts we might actually get somewhere productive. The majority really aren't that rigid, they just don't make for great news story's or help to push a particular agenda.

Anyone who thinks banning gun's any gun will make thing's better and feel safer is an absolute fool with a delusional mind.
The governments get on these ban wagon strictly because it get's votes with all the bleeding hearts out there.
Question to ask your self, do criminal's go through all the measures required to get a license and permits required to own a gun.....?

If government has never been able to control illegal drugs from entering the country, do you think they can stop gun's HAHAHA, not a chance.

Gun's are here to stay, for EVER, legal or illegal and criminal's will alway's have them no matter what the government does, too bad again it will be the law abiding people that have to pay for a government that continually spin's flights of fantasies to the general population for votes.
Like most government's in this country the Liberal's are out of touch with reality.

It is in my opinion that the governments need to stop controlling society, otherwise we are no longer in a free country but will be living in a socialist democracy.
Let the people shape the country and government should stick to what they are good at....collecting taxes

Sorry but I’m one of those delusional fools and I think that you are wrong. Your insulting dismissal of my point of view is exactly why we need government to operate the country. Just because you believe something doesn’t make it true, there are at least twenty different religions in the world from Christianity to Zorasterism and at least nineteen of them believe in a false god, and we need filters to winnow out the better ideas.
We have had bans on “people killing” guns in Canada for a long, long time and the rate of “gun deaths” is significantly lower than in less regulated countries. Don’t bother replying because this is the only response I will give after your childish name calling.

Being a "pro" gun enthusiast, I consider the GUN only as a tool, no different from a knife, bomb, axe, even a vehicle. Society shapes people, creates their morals, and influences their actions. Through these thought processes I think is how we have reduced gun violence. Regulation, in my opinion is, as stated above, only a popularity contest for the politicians for the most part. As far as carrying guns go, our country for the most part is safe enough that we can rely on enforcement to protect the general public when in the urban areas. While out in rural areas i feel strongly about being able to carry our so called restricted weapons. It is quite a cumbersome chore to carry a shotgun for example rather than a handgun in a holster while on an all day outback adventure. That is where regulation lets us down, it is only suited for the "masses" of the cities.
I fit in nicely when i am completely alone!
