How much damage does hitting ice flows do to a aluminum hull? At what size/thickness of ice bergs do you need to be concerned your going to do damage. Can ice debris clog intakes?

Just stay off the river for a few days till it warms up enough to clear some of the ice. Yes ice will damage your hull. Not as bad as rocks but damage none the less. Yes it will clog your intake.

Its not the burgs you see either that you need too worry about. Its the ones just lurking under the surface. I hit one in the spring on the Skeena and went airborne. I was watching for ice and never saw it coming. Not fun.

Doesn't need to be Ice...
We where out last weekend. It was near zero actual air temp.
The water had to be right at 32*.
Ever open a water bottle right at freezing point, you can watch it freeze in your hand.
As we would move through the water it would turn in to slush in front of us.
Longer we went the more "Slush" we were pushing till we could go no farther up stream.
We where in the 27hp mud boat, had to use the push pole to turn around and go back to the boat ramp.
The bay was completely slushed in and had to power and push our way in to the ramp.
Dang that was very scary.

Thanks for the input, I guess I need to wait for things to warm up. These sunny days with clear low river levels are tempting
