Herrik river

Postby Makin Wake » Fri May 05, 2017 9:23 pm

Hello guys. Im from Athabasca Alberta. I am very interested in running the Mgreggor and Herrik river. I cant seem to get any maps of the area that are good enough to use. I am looking for advise and info. I used to live in P.G. a long time ago. I understand that a person might be best to launch at Mgreggor townsite, run down Fraser, turn into Mgreggor. From there I am not sure where the Herrik is. I am assuming it is past the Church road launch site and past where the Mgreggor splits to run south and north east. Apparently it is a 3 hour run from Mgreggor townsite. Anybody that would like to share info that would be awesome. I am a very respectfull boater and love seeing new area. Thanks in advance.

You can also launch at the bridge where the North Fraser FSR crosses the mcgregor, not sure the best way to explain where the mouth of the herrik is other then it is a fairly large river as well, a person can't make it much farther from the mouth of it on the mcgregor as there is a large log jam. According to the GPS it is roughly 90km to the falls one way on the river from where we launched.

Let us know when you are coming. Maybe we can get a few boats together and make a day.

water is up now, river is runnable right into the fall. It just gets boney, so as long as you have a shallow water c/w umhw boat any time is good. several other great rivers close by so if a person is travelling this way plan a bit of extra time and make an excursion of it. Go on PG jetboat club facebook page and you will find it easy to find a local guide.

We just got back from our Prince George area trip. We managed to run the Herrick, what an awesome time we had. This river will keep you on your toes. Awesome scenery. Cant wait to do it again. I don't have plastic on my boat but it sure would be good to have in this river.
