The river is great right now ran from Laurel up yesterday. Cleaned out 35 to 40 gal of winter fuel. Easy run no obstacles to watch out for. A few big waves if you like that kind of stuffhttp://meanchicken.net/webmain/for ... ost&f=124# Laurel Boat ramp is in great shape easy unload and load. There were no other boats at the ramp.

I'm thinking of getting on the river soon here in Billings. Last year I used the Lockwood ramp but wasn't impressed, I wish it was made at an angle to the river instead of 90 degrees. I might try the one at Coulson Park, but that one could use a little work. Then maybe Duck Creek.

Warning on the Duck Creek ramp there is a terrible drop off at the end on the concrete, I know one fellow that tore the axle off his trailer when it got hung up.
Use the ramp at Laurel best around.

Thanks for the update on the Duck Creek ramp. I'll have to check the Laurel ramp out.

I think we all need to start flooding FWP and the commission with letters asking them to fix the boat ramps that we motorized boaters pay for, and demand the elected commission to start charging fees for all river users so the access ramps are up to snuff. Sorry for the hijack, but the ramps on the Madison are top notch!

And charge all watercraft in MT a fee for the Invasive Species not just the fisherman!

Made a little trip up from Laurel Saturday river is great so clear it's a little spooky. Plenty of water if you read it right. Foshing was fair. Great day not another boat on the water.

How big of a boat are you running? I have a 20' Hewescraft and not sure if it is too big or not for the waters that we have. The river flows are getting down there.

I have a Thunderjet 21 Alexis w/ 6.0 and 212. The river up stream from laurel is good for now but is starting to get a little technical. If you read water well not a problem but if you make a mistake coming back down there may be a problem. I love it!
Great running.

I live in Forsyth and have been on the river a lot lately down here with an 18' weldcraft. It is low but still navigable. Last weekend there were 2 boats stuck in the middle of the river so a person has to be paying attention.
