Think I am good for either though Sunday would be better. Think the other half has to work Monday.

We will almost definitely be there. I said "we'll need to get away from the snow." She said "but we have no snow." I said" then let's go."

I'm an idiot, not sure why I thought I had to work. I'm in for whichever day as long as there is enough water. I think we could also do a middle fork Willamette run that weekend if anyone is interested....

Anyone interested in a preliminary run this weekend? Weather looks good but the river is dropping like a rock, if it levels out I'd like to run some gas through my boat, been sitting since September and don't want issues on New Years

Ugh!
Thanks for the comment about river levels; it is definitely dropping like a rock.

I believe last year or year before, someone suggested ~7000 cfs was the rock/no rock or go/nogo turning point. Guess I'll have to start worrying about flow, and check the levels daily.

If the McKenzie is too low, might the Willamette still be runnable?

I'd have to check my notes but I think we ran it last year at barely over 5k CFS at Hayden bridge. The main Willamette is always runnable, if you meant the middle fork I'll need to look and see what scenicjetboats and I ran it at last winter and make a "guess" as to how low I'd feel good about it. I know you have a long drive over here Mitch, if you are into running both I'm game.

It was right around 5. I don't think I would group run it any lower than that. Probably got lucky last year. There's a lot of rocks in that sucker.

Even below 5 there are a ton of side channels to be explored below the park as well as the side trip up the mohawk. Wish I could be there.

So I looked at my notes and I wrote down 5400. I probably won't go at less than 6k again cause I hit 2x and am still not sure why I hit either time but am still mad about it. The rocks up there aren't as forgiving as my Willamette round rock. I know typically when I go with the group we are running at a little lower rpm of where I like to be as far as up on step so a little more flow helps me. No Problem and I have run it at around 8K in the past and had a lot of fun.

Looks like I won’t be able to go this year. I would recommend not having a group run on the upper end at the levels we had last year. I’m very surprised we didn’t have more carnage as knarly as it was above where we stopped for lunch.

Gentle mens:
We need to line up a livestock-sitter for here, and make motel reservations for there, sooooo,
dare anyone declare whether we're going New Year's Eve day or the first of '18?

If the flows look too low, it is easy enough to cancel (either day), but I'd like to get help lined up if possible.

Thanks! Hope it comes together!

I'll leave it up to GASMAN since he started the thread, but how about we shoot for new years eve? Even if the McKenzie is low we can find plenty of water to pump!

Well providing I get the lame Duck back in the game. Had a small issue. I'll try to look at it this coming week but no promises... I may be out if I don't get the Duck Quacking

Somebody might want to do a rain dance in the next week or 2 cause at this flow only the mini's are going to make it up. :chicken:
