Impeller shim question

Postby Lonedrake » Tue Feb 20, 2018 6:46 pm

40/30 mercury outboard jet. When I put all the shim washers on top of the impeller, the impelller edge is about 1/8 inch below the liner. Is this normal to get the correct clearance or is it time for a new impeller? Pic is the old impeller sitting inside of a new liner bottomed out.

No it shouldn't look like that. If you have to put all of the washers on top to get clearance with a new liner than that is clue #2 that the impeller is shot....assuming that the impeller is the correct p/n (liner # looks right)

Thanks, that’s what I figured. Got a new impeller ordered today.
