Zodiac type hulls with jets

Postby DoubleHeader » Sun Nov 02, 2014 9:49 pm

I've been thinking about getting another boat. Thinkin real small, multi purpose/affordable. Talking to a couple guys up north (of BC) a zodiac type hull with aluminum bottom/25hp 2 stroke jet allows them to run where not much else will have the opportunity to go. assuming light load (2 guys/50lbs worth of gear) is this something any of you have experience with. The purpose of this boat would be exploring small flows, lakes and ability to drift rivers. A 10ft. version would allow me to haul in back of a pick up once custom cradle is installed. What do you think? (or know)
22' River Hawk, 6 1/2' bottom, Kodiak 6L, Hamilton 212, 1/4" Keel Plate, Stomp Grate, Fixed Frame Soft Top, Yamaha T8

Besides and inflatable bottom, which probably will last you two trips in Alaska; how is this different than a Zodiak? I would much rather be standing on plastic then air after years of owning a Saturn raft with a frame.

On a side note, when I go to Russia, Ukraine, and Slovakia I don't feed them sales pitches in English

You know, that boats especially for outboard jets. It is very popular boat tipe in Sibiria now.
Thousands people use it. I think, you should try to stand to the bottom. Good luck !

I think "vatapalushka", translates to English as, "sunuva bitch is gonna drown!"
'93 North River 19', Kodiak 350, 3 stage, and plenty of smart marks sold
'04 Boice Titan 22', Stroked 6.7 LS, Hami 212

Alaska Series Inflatables makes the "Jet Ranger". I had one for 8 years, nothing better for what you are looking to do. The boat can run so shallow that I once drove it up my buddy's pee stream and parked it on his weiner. Just kidding, but not by much.

Solar-future i like the boat, its light weight/portable and go anywhere . The tunnel is key for an outboard jet. Do you sell these in the US? Do you have more info on these in English? I don't think we can get the Suzuki 2 stroke 30hp in the US, which is a bummer. I wonder how well an Evinrude Etec 30hp would work instead?

So these inflatables with jet tunnels seem to be pretty popular in Russia. Here is a different tunnel design from SibRiver.

Well... i guess i'm the only one on here so for what its worth here are some specs i was able to find on these craft. The Solar-380 Jet and SibRiver Abakan-Jet 380 are fairly similar. Great power to weight for a small boat and good capacity too. 30 hp should be able to push and plane about a 1,000 lbs giving you a fairly useful load.

About 12.5ft x 5.7ft
4 people
30 hp max motor
120 lbs dry weight
1,300 lbs max capacity
$1,550 USD for the Solar the SibRiver is $790

Also not that we can get these is the US but a new Suzuki DT 30hp 2 stroke (130lbs) go for $2,200 USD

If,they stand up to lots of abuse, then I'm thinking they will be okay..

Heck of a lot cheaper then the Jet Ranger boats,
Maybe you get what you pay for. would like to hear from some abuser, user's..

No, that was for the Solar.
I do like how they have incorporated the tunnel design into the inflatable floor, not to sure how tuff it would be.

You can use Google Translate to convert any website into English. They can ship the boat via DHL not sure on exact cost, it should be reasonable. Be aware that US Customs has a 2.4% import tax on importing an inflatable boat.
