Outboard w/power trim question

Postby Bigbentley » Sat Nov 14, 2020 8:51 pm

Hey folks,

So I'm picking up an evinrude 60/40 etec tiller w/power tilt/trim in a couple weeks.
Curious if I'll need to fab a kickback jack plate to safely run this thing through the pucker sections, or if it kicks back fairly easily if I happen to tap?
Curious if there's a relief valve i could modify or springs i could change.

Just new to the power trim world.

Cheers

I run a 115/80 (2017) and it is rubber bushed in a way. It bounces around a bit when I've touched. I've never worried at all about hurting the unit or the transom when touching. With a jet and hitting bottom, its not like an outboard with a prop, where big damage or potential to damage transom may occur. It will more or less just bump along bottom along with your hull. That said, I've seen a few destroyed or knocked off shoes. If you are hitting a lot, I suggest a urethane shoe from Wooldridge or one of the Russian brands.

Yeah, I had a Russian jetwolf intake on my last merc 25 and it did the trick.
Going to head that route again for sure.
