Bottom extension UHMW or aluminum

Postby AK2ID » Mon May 13, 2019 7:03 am

For the small bottom extension that goes from the hull to the jet foot, is there any advantage to installing a tight fitting UHMW material vs the thin aluminum?

UHMW. As long as you're talking about the roughly 16" flap right at the jet. UHMW because you want it rubbing the jet foot if possible. I like mine as tight as possible, even cutting a radius so I can fit it around the pump. To me it help A LOT to keep the pump loaded.

Mine is quite tight and sitting on the leading edge of my shoe. Tight enough to be wearing the paint off it. Reduces spray and feeds the pump well.

Yep, that's exactly how you want it too be...
If you get a chance, take a look at a Wooldridge Alaskan with an outboard jet on a tunnel. They've got it down!!
